Angry Birds Star Wars for Android, iPhone and iPad now available for Download

Rovio, the creator of Angry birds has released Angry Birds Star Wars for Android, iPhone and iPad as they announced last month. They launched the Bad Pigges game that had the pigs from Angry Birds franchise with completely different plot. The Angry Birds Star Wars has birds and pigs that will take on the personalities of characters from the Star Wars saga.

Rovio releases update for Angry Birds, adds fifteen new levels

After the recent release of Amazing Alex for Android and iOS devices, Rovio doesn’t seem to be taking a break. Their flagship title, Angry Birds, has gotten a new update that adds a bunch of new stuff to the original game. According to a report by MacStories, the update to the iOS version of the massively popular game adds fifteen new tropical levels for players to fling around birds to destroy pigs. The update also adds some new power ups that players can buy; King Sling, Birdquake, Super Seeds and  Sling Scope.

Gameloft Posts Picture Of Their First Game With The Unreal Engine

One of the most popular game engines out there is the Unreal Engine and it’s powered plenty of big name games like Bioshock and the Mass Effect series. It’s quite versatile and packs quite a punch when it comes to building games. Gameloft is taking advantage of the engine and planning to build their first mobile games using the engine soon.

Battlefield 4 Revealed via Medal of Honor: Warfighter Listing

A listing for the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter on the Origin digital distribution service from Electronic Arts has revealed that Battlefield 4 is already in development at DICE.

 Those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter will get a key that will allow them to get into the beta stage of Battlefield 4, although the listing does not offer information on when that might take place.

Ubisoft may not go into the future after Assassin's Creed III

ssassin’s Creed is one of the most popular games today. The series has an interesting plot that takes place in the near future, along with plots that take place in certain periods of history, such as the time of the Holy Crusades in Assassin's Creed, the Renaissance in Assassin’s Creed 2, and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and the rise of Constantinople in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.



The upcoming Assassin’s Creed III will take place during the American fight for Independence, and is to feature a new protagonist by the name of Connor. But there is no guarantee that the next installment will be set after America’s Independence. "I don't think we'll necessarily always go forward, or we're dooming ourselves to run out of history," the game's creative director, Alex Hutchinson, told fans at a Comic-Con panel recently.



During the presentation, developers from Ubisoft Entertainment demonstrated some time-bending Assassin's Creed III gameplay set in an early rendition of Boston. The scenes featured Native American protagonist Connor ascending brick buildings, slipping past redcoats and bashing Scottish brawlers.


Hutchinson told the crowd - many of whom were dressed as hooded protagonists of the previous games, Altair and Ezio - that the developers originally planned for players to be able to scalp enemies as half-Mohawk, half-English assassin Connor, but that feature was later removed. "When we dug into it deeper, we found it really horrifying," Hutchinson said. Assassin's Creed III is set for release on October 30 for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, but the PC version has been delayed.

The Assassin’s Creed series deals with a secret war that has lasted millennia between the Assassins and the Templars. The Assassins seek to fight for the free will of people, while the Templars seek to control them. The first game was set during the Holy Crusades, in Jerusalem. Protagonist Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad would have to jump from rooftops and sneak into groups of people in order to find and assassinate his targets.

The second game was set during the Renaissance era, in Florence. The main protagonist of the “II” series of games (which are Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations) is Ezio Auditore. The II series of games dealt with the evolution of Ezio as a character, who starts out as a revenge-driven teenager only to become a highly-skilled master of Assassins. Altaïr also makes an appearance in Revelation, showing the aged assassin’s last few days. The secondary protagonist of the series is Desmond Miles, who is accessing his “genetic memory” to live the lives of his Ancestors Altaïr and Ezio.

Final Fantasy VII is Coming to PC

An official website for a new PC version of Final Fantasy VII has surfaced, confirming that Square-Enix's classic will be available from the publisher's online store in the near future.

The new version will feature 36 new achievements that you can compare with friends online, the site states. Cloud saves are also part of the online feature package. Another addition, "Character Booster", will apparently allow you to increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to maximum, which seems to be intended to soften the difficulty.

Wii U Is as Powerful as the Xbox 360

The Nintendo Wii U is the first next-generation console to be launched, but according to one leader of Microsoft, the hardware of the device does not offer more power than the Xbox 360.


Phil Spencer, who is leading the Microsoft Studios division, has told Games Industry that, “I think their Pro Controller makes a lot of sense with the platform they’ve built. They are building a platform that is effectively a 360 when you think of graphical capability.”

PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.20 Causes Massive Problems for Users

It seems that the latest firmware for the PlayStation 3, software update 4.20, is causing a series of major issues for owners of the console, with some saying that their devices are unable to start while others report different types of problems.


Sony’s firmware updates on the PS3 usually go off without a hitch but the latest software, which took it to version 4.20, has apparently caused a series of major issues for PS3 owners from all over the world.

 According to members of the official PlayStation forums, a large variety of problems have appeared after they installed the new firmware update.

Sony Buys Gaikai for $380 Million (€301M), New Cloud Gaming Service Coming

Sony has confirmed that it has bought reputed cloud gaming company Gaikai for $380 million (€301 million) and that it’s going to use the latter’s expertise to create a brand new cloud service.

 Cloud gaming has become quite popular in recent years, thanks to the effort of companies like Gaikai or OnLive, who allow customers to play games on remote servers and then stream the gameplay footage to their respective device, whether it was a computer or even a mobile platform.


Now, after revealing that cloud gaming is the future of the industry, Sony has confirmed that it has acquired Gaikai for a whopping $380 million (€301 million).

 Thanks to this acquisition, the Japanese company will "establish a new cloud service, ensuring that it continues to provide users with truly innovative and immersive interactive entertainment experiences."

 "By combining Gaikai's resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with SCE's extensive game platform knowledge and experience, SCE will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences," said Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

 "SCE will deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices."

 Based on these statements, Sony won’t turn Gaikai’s cloud service into an exclusive one for PlayStation devices like the PS3 or PS Vita.

 "We're honored to be able to help SCE rapidly harness the power of the interactive cloud and to continue to grow their ecosystem, to empower developers with new capabilities, to dramatically improve the reach of exciting content and to bring breathtaking new experiences to users worldwide," said David Perry, CEO of Gaikai Inc.

 As of yet, no other details are known, but you can expect Sony to reveal its plans with Gaikai in the near future.

PES 2013 Developer Believes FIFA Is No Longer Focused on Gameplay

The rivalry between football simulations FIFA, from EA Sports, and Pro Evolution Soccer, from Konami, is well known and one leader of the PES team believes that the rivals are now targeting different audiences in order to expand their appeal.


John Murphy, the leader of the Pro Evolution Soccer team working in Great Britain, has told the Official PlayStation Magazine that, “We always focused on gameplay and that’s what we want to get back to. Maybe EA thinks they’ve gone far enough with gameplay and they’ve got other things to do – maybe they want to attract a different kind of audience with different features.”

 He added, “But I’ve always thought it’s right that we should be concentrating really hard on the way you play a game against someone else, and that unique PES feeling, which is all about gameplay.”

 Konami has already revealed that it sees Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 marking a return to the roots of the franchise, with a focus on how gamers can control the ball and get past opposing players and into a good position to deliver a goal.

 The developers are also promising a smarter Artificial Intelligence, designed to keep the entire team in sync and allow gamers to better enjoy the football experience.

 Meanwhile for FIFA 13, EA Sports is planning to introduce more “error” to its video game, making sure that the perfect passes and shots that unknown players were able to execute in last year’s installment are gone and more realism is linked to the title.

 Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 will be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on October 2 of this year.

 FIFA 13 is also coming to the same platforms and is expected to arrive on 25 September in North America and three days later in Europe.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Announced for Mac OS X

The biggest first-person action series is making another stop on Mac OS X. Aspyr Media confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops is launching on Apple platforms this fall.

 The game promises to take avid shooter fans “behind enemy lines as a member of an elite special forces unit engaging in covert warfare, classified operations, and explosive conflicts across the globe.” Your task will be to tip the scales “during the most dangerous time period mankind has ever known.”

 Key features include a cinematic single-player campaign, multiplayer with all new modes, including combat training, and the fan-favorite Zombie mode providing endless hours of slaying fun.

 The exact launch date and system requirements are yet to be announced. Be sure to pack a lot of video RAM for this one, though.

Amazing Spider-Man Game Out for the PC on August 10

Activision has confirmed that it’s going to bring the Amazing Spider-Man Game onto the PC platform on August 10, after already releasing it onto the PS3 and Xbox 360 this week.

 The Amazing Spider-Man movie wants to restart the series of films based on the popular comic book character with new actors and new stories.

 As always, a video game tie-in has also appeared, coming from studio Beenox and published by Activision.

 Now, after the game has already appeared on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, Activision has confirmed that it’s also going to be released onto the PC on August 10.

 This version of the Amazing Spider-Man Game will come with different types of features, including Steam achievements.

 As of yet, no other details have been given about the improvements made to the PC version of the game, so expect to hear more soon enough

Where was Rainbow 6: Patriots during E3?

Ubisoft had an impressive run this year at E3, showing off titles like Assassin's Creed III, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Watch Dogs but one fan favorite was missing. Tom Clany's Rainbow 6: Patriots didn't make its way into E3 this year and we can only help but wonder why.

 Tony Key, Ubisoft senior vice president of sales, sat down with IGN to explain why Rainbow 6 was missing in action. “Let's just say that Rainbow 6 is still in active development but what we decided was that the best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show right now."

 With Ubisoft's already heavy E3 lineup they didn't want to overwhelm people with too many games.“We have a lot of other games that we want to focus people on and there will be more information on Rainbow coming," said Key.

 Last December Ubisoft released a trailer that showed modern-day terrorists attempting to assume control. Even with the delay Rainbow 6: Patriots will be on current generation consoles.

 "This is the only generation that I know about, so I would assume yes."

 It is assumed that Rainbow 6: Patriots will be available in 2013 but no specific date has been confirmed.
