LG Optimus G Caught In The Wild, Packs Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro

We’re just days away from IFA 2012, and numerous hardware manufacturers are gearing up to release their newest handsets. According to a set of leaked images, LG’s incredibly powerful Optimus G is real, and is expected to be officially unveiled at the show.

The LG Optimus G (E973) features a vast array of impressive specs, including Qualcomm’s latest 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset (APQ8064), an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Display-wise the Optimus G utilizes LG’s very own 4.7-inch IPS panel (1280 x 720) which equates to 320 ppi. Because that wasn’t enough, LG integrated a massive 13-megapixel shooter on the back of the device and a front-facing camera for video chat. The best part, you ask? This all runs on — what appears to be — a lightly-skinned version of Ice Cream Sandwich, with an update to Jelly Bean scheduled soon after launch.

ICS update for LG Optimus 2X is coming after all

LG Optimus 2X users must be getting sea sick of all the back and forth - LG committed to upgrading its former flagship to Android 4.0 ICS nearly a year ago, then there was a delay and then LG Canada tweeted that the update just won't happen.

There was always the possibility that that LG Canada's statement was meant for Canadian 2X phones only, which seems to be the case. The tweet from LG Korea confirms that the update is in the works - for Korean phones at least - and is already undergoing testing. However, LG didn't specify when it will be ready for release or which regions will get it.
