Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ flaunts its 1080p display in live images

Following the footsteps of its C650X Odin relative, it was time for Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ to make an appearance. The upcoming Sony flagship has emerged in live photos, which barely leave anything to one’s imagination.

The Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ will reportedly feature a quad-core CPU (likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro) and 2GB of RAM. The leaked photos all but confirm the presence of a 12MP camera – not the previously leaked 13MP sensor. The device in the photos runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sony’s UI on top.

PlayStation 3 Firmware 4.20 Causes Massive Problems for Users

It seems that the latest firmware for the PlayStation 3, software update 4.20, is causing a series of major issues for owners of the console, with some saying that their devices are unable to start while others report different types of problems.


Sony’s firmware updates on the PS3 usually go off without a hitch but the latest software, which took it to version 4.20, has apparently caused a series of major issues for PS3 owners from all over the world.

 According to members of the official PlayStation forums, a large variety of problems have appeared after they installed the new firmware update.

Sony Buys Gaikai for $380 Million (€301M), New Cloud Gaming Service Coming

Sony has confirmed that it has bought reputed cloud gaming company Gaikai for $380 million (€301 million) and that it’s going to use the latter’s expertise to create a brand new cloud service.

 Cloud gaming has become quite popular in recent years, thanks to the effort of companies like Gaikai or OnLive, who allow customers to play games on remote servers and then stream the gameplay footage to their respective device, whether it was a computer or even a mobile platform.


Now, after revealing that cloud gaming is the future of the industry, Sony has confirmed that it has acquired Gaikai for a whopping $380 million (€301 million).

 Thanks to this acquisition, the Japanese company will "establish a new cloud service, ensuring that it continues to provide users with truly innovative and immersive interactive entertainment experiences."

 "By combining Gaikai's resources including its technological strength and engineering talent with SCE's extensive game platform knowledge and experience, SCE will provide users with unparalleled cloud entertainment experiences," said Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

 "SCE will deliver a world-class cloud-streaming service that allows users to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immersive core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices."

 Based on these statements, Sony won’t turn Gaikai’s cloud service into an exclusive one for PlayStation devices like the PS3 or PS Vita.

 "We're honored to be able to help SCE rapidly harness the power of the interactive cloud and to continue to grow their ecosystem, to empower developers with new capabilities, to dramatically improve the reach of exciting content and to bring breathtaking new experiences to users worldwide," said David Perry, CEO of Gaikai Inc.

 As of yet, no other details are known, but you can expect Sony to reveal its plans with Gaikai in the near future.

YouTube App for PS Vita Now Available for Download

Sony has just posted the long-awaited YouTube application for its PlayStation Vita on the PlayStation Store, finally allowing users of the portable console to enjoy videos on the small device.

 The PS Vita was released back in February and, while its features were quite impressive and plenty of games and apps were available for the device, many were sorely missing.

 Fortunately, quite a few have started appearing for the portable console, including Skype and, as of yesterday, YouTube.


“With the YouTube application on PS Vita, you can watch millions of YouTube videos on PS Vita’s stunning 5-inch OLED screen. And with 3G, you can watch your favorite content – from comedy to gaming tips to viral videos – while you’re at home or on-the-go. The application itself is straightforward and easy to use,” Sony said.

 The application includes all sorts of features lifted from the actual website, from search to viewing history or favorites selection

“Videos will be viewable in two modes – full screen and small screen. In Full Screen mode, a control panel will be displayed on the screen, which will allow you to easily expand or minimize videos. Additionally, an HD button will appear when playing high definition (up to 720p) videos. Simply tap on the HD button to switch from HD to SD. In Small Screen mode, you’ll be able to view a video, while having access to the Like or Dislike buttons, Suggested Videos, Comments and Information.”
