LG Optimus G Caught In The Wild, Packs Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro

We’re just days away from IFA 2012, and numerous hardware manufacturers are gearing up to release their newest handsets. According to a set of leaked images, LG’s incredibly powerful Optimus G is real, and is expected to be officially unveiled at the show.

The LG Optimus G (E973) features a vast array of impressive specs, including Qualcomm’s latest 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset (APQ8064), an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Display-wise the Optimus G utilizes LG’s very own 4.7-inch IPS panel (1280 x 720) which equates to 320 ppi. Because that wasn’t enough, LG integrated a massive 13-megapixel shooter on the back of the device and a front-facing camera for video chat. The best part, you ask? This all runs on — what appears to be — a lightly-skinned version of Ice Cream Sandwich, with an update to Jelly Bean scheduled soon after launch.

Apple’s iPhone 5 Display Will Be the Best in the Industry, Experts Say

Experts in mobile technology agree that if Apple does equip its next-generation iPhone with a 1136 x 640 Retina display, it will be “the number one 4-inch phone in terms of panel specifications in the market.”

 Reportedly capped at 4 inches on the diagonal with a resolution of 1136 by 640 pixels and 326 dpi (dots per inch), the Retina display embodied by the new iPhone 5 coming out this fall will be a killer.


In fact, experts say that if Apple's new device continues to push the boundaries in terms of technology, "[it will] most likely cause other handset vendors to release 4-inch sized phones with similar specifications to counterbalance competition in the market.”

 The information comes from Taiwan’s hit-and-miss trade publication DigiTimes, which lately spoke with dozens of analysts and people in Apple’s supply chain to assess all relevant aspects of the iPhone 5 launch.

Leak Shows iPad mini Design, Rear Camera

A Chinese blog has published images of third-party iPad mini cases that reveal the tablet’s final design.

 Should the images speak the truth about Apple’s up and coming product, it seems the iPad mini will (too) boast a rear-facing camera for photos and video.

 The cases point to a tapered back shell (like the iPod touch). The volume buttons are present on the right side of the device, and the speaker grills appear to be placed close to the dock connector. A hole for the hardware switch can also be seen.

Samsung Galaxy S II Plus pictures leak

A Chilean carrier VTR has what it claims to the Galaxy S II Plus on its website, complete with pictures and a spec page.



The phone looks strangely identical to the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S II (T989). In fact, if you go through the spec sheet of the S II Plus, you will find more similarities, such as a 4.52-inch, 800 x 480 resolution Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot and an 8 megapixel camera.

First Samsung GALAXY Note II Live Picture Leaks

With only two weeks left until Samsung’s launch event, which is set to take place in Berlin, Germany, on August 29, we have new details on the upcoming Galaxy Note II super-phone.

 The first render of the smartphone leaked a few days ago, but the source of the leak wasn’t able to confirm the origin of the picture.

 However, today we have a new photo showing the alleged Samsung Galaxy Note II, only this time it’s a live picture of the phone.


If we are to compare the two photos, there are many differences, so we’re inclined to believe the press shot of the Galaxy Note II is rather fake.

Google Nexus 2013 Concept Phone: Tegra 4, Android 4.2, Google Wireless

If Google launched its own wireless services, the first handset to connect to them would be, undoubtedly, a Google Nexus smartphone.

 Capable of delivering a pure Google experience, such a device would include not only state-of-the-art hardware inside, but also great looks and appealing features, that’s for sure.

Early screenshots of Firefox OS revealed

You may already be aware of Mozilla's upcoming mobile operating system based on HTML5. We now have some new screenshots of the UI, courtesy of Mozilla evangelist Robert Nyman.

The UI looks markedly different from some of the previous screenshots we have seen and draws heavy inspiration from some of the other mobile operating system. You can see the iOS influence in the homescreen UI and some Android influence in the settings app and notification drawer.

Wii U Is as Powerful as the Xbox 360

The Nintendo Wii U is the first next-generation console to be launched, but according to one leader of Microsoft, the hardware of the device does not offer more power than the Xbox 360.


Phil Spencer, who is leading the Microsoft Studios division, has told Games Industry that, “I think their Pro Controller makes a lot of sense with the platform they’ve built. They are building a platform that is effectively a 360 when you think of graphical capability.”
